DHARAMSHALA: Captain Ranjit Singh Rana, Congress MLA from Sujanpur in Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur district, has been accused by his own brother of harassment.
Ranjit Rana’s younger brother Ramesh Chand has lodged a formal complaint with the Sujanpur police, alleging that the lives of his family members were at risk due to ongoing threats from the MLA.
Ramesh Chand, who has retired from the Army, has claimed that he had been subjected to years of harassment and has demanded police protection for his family, particularly for his son, who is studying at Hamirpur college.

According to the police, the allegations appear to be linked to a long-standing land dispute between the brothers. The MLA and his brother have reportedly been at odds for quite some time, with tensions escalating to the point that Ramesh Chand publicly accused his brother during a previous Assembly by-election campaign.
In his complaint, Ramesh Chand has alleged that if any harm was done to him or his family, the MLA and his associates would be responsible. The Sujanpur police have registered the complaint and said statements were being recorded as part of the ongoing investigation.
Captain Ranjit Singh Rana has strongly denied the claims, calling these baseless. He stated that he did not even communicate with Ramesh Chand, questioning the grounds for any alleged dispute. “If Ramesh Chand has any evidence, he should present it,” the MLA remarked.
