Himachal Pradesh BJP president Dr Rajiv Bindal has alleged that the Congress government had lost the trust of the public, rendering its authority to govern null and void.
Speaking at a press conference in Shimla while addressing the recent Rajya Sabha election in Himachal Pradesh, Bindal underscored the magnitude of the event in the state’s political history. The election saw the victory of BJP nominee Harsh Mahajan, a significant political triumph for the party. Bindal congratulated Mahajan on his election as a Rajya Sabha MP while concurrently lambasting the incumbent Congress government led by Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
Stating that the current government, despite initially commanding a substantial majority, had lost its legitimacy to govern, Bindal characterised its tenure as “completely disgusting”. He lamented the disillusionment of the people of Himachal Pradesh, attributing it to unfulfilled promises and political upheavals.
“The reflection of the sentiments of the people of Himachal Pradesh is visible in this Rajya Sabha election,” Bindal asserted, highlighting the electorate’s discontent with the incumbent administration. He emphasised the role of elected representatives in fulfilling public expectations and its impact on electoral outcomes.
Looking ahead to the 2024 elections, Bindal affirmed the BJP’s commitment to grassroots-level initiatives and organisational campaigns. He lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, citing his vision for the party’s future and its resounding success in the recent national convention. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as the most popular and great leader not only of India but also of the world,” Bindal said, underscoring the BJP’s dedication to realising Modi’s vision for the nation.
