Indo-American Business and Arts Council (IABAC), in collaboration with the Indian Consul General in San Francisco, organised an Indo-US symposium focussing on Himachal Pradesh. Gulf-based Himachalis supported the symposium virtually.
Cm welcomes delegates
Chief Minister Jairam Thakur welcomed the participating delegates through his virtual message and lauded the efforts of the IABAC. He invited them to visit “Devbhoomi” Himachal and enjoy the natural beauty of the state. He also called upon investors to explore the vast investment opportunities in the state.
Special incentives offered
Additional Chief Secretary of industries and energy, RD Dhiman, provided an insight into the special incentives and opportunities offered to prospective investors by the state government like availability of land at affordable rates, high quality and reliable power system, and a proactive and accessible administration.
Himachal, he said was one of the leading states in the country in terms of ease of doing business with reforms like an online single-window approval system, self-certification for setting up of micro, small and medium industrial units, regular online tracking and monitoring by the Chief Minister’s office.
Rohit Khanna member of the US General assembly representing the Bay Area, San Francisco, California, stated that he originally hailed from Kangra in Himachal and supported the government’s initiative.
Investors interested in hospitality, IT sectors
There was a marked interest in the hospitality industry as well as the IT sector. Sam Deodhara, owner of a hotel chain in the Gulf region displayed his interest in the hospitality sector while Amit Zaveri, General Manager of Google Cloud, said that the state provided ample opportunities for its customers and Google, including government departments.
