Mandi: In a departure from his usual norm, Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukkhu avoided interaction with media persons at the Mandi Shivratri fair on March 9.
The Chief Minister preferred to stay behind a wall of security personnel during the Mandi Shivaratri fair. This unprecedented move came in the background of a simmering political unrest in the state following the cross-voting by six Congress MLAs in the Rajya Sabha elections. Despite attempts by journalists to seek comments, they were met with resistance.
The vibrant Mandi Shivaratri fair, a celebration of culture and tradition, took an unexpected turn. The Chief Minister’s presence was overshadowed by an imposing ring of security personnel, effectively shielding him from media interaction.
Journalists, eager to capture the pulse of the event, found themselves stonewalled by the Chief Minister’s security detail, impeding their access to the state leader. Despite their persistence, attempts to elicit comments or soundbites were thwarted, leaving unanswered questions.
The Chief Minister did briefly step out of the security ring to engage with a member of the public.
