Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will be chairing a cabinet meeting at the Secretariat in Shimla on Tuesday and decisions on several issues are expected to be taken, with all eyes set on potential policy changes and developmental initiatives.

The last cabinet meeting, held on September 20, resulted in several notable decisions, including the approval to fill 180 vacant posts across various departments. Additionally, plans were set in motion for the construction of a 50-bed critical care block at the Civil Hospital in Dehra assembly constituency, and the opening of both the Superintendent Engineer Office and Block Medical Office of the Electricity Board in Dehra.

Chief Minister Sukhu’s recent tour across multiple districts saw him inaugurating and announcing projects worth crores. Upon his return to Shimla on Monday, he inaugurated a newly constructed five-storey building in Dhali, built at a cost of Rs 8.28 crore.

This facility, designed for specially abled children, boasts 32 modern residential rooms, a computer laboratory, vocational training rooms, a music room, a library, a workshop and more.

Additionally, 10 rooms have been allocated as hostel accommodations for students.

The institute currently provides free residential education to 140 students, including 106 hearing-impaired and 34 visually impaired children, from classes 1 to 12. This initiative marks another stride towards inclusive education under the Sukhu administration.

One of the key items likely to be discussed in today’s cabinet meeting is the tightening of regulations around home stays in Himachal Pradesh. Several home stay units are reportedly operating without proper adherence to rules, prompting concerns over lost government revenue and regulatory violations. Complaints have been lodged against some illegal operations, leading the government to form a cabinet sub-committee to investigate the issue.
