DHARAMSHALA: In a gesture of community service, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit of Himachal Pradesh has announced it would organize a ‘langar’ for two months in Ayodhya to cater to devotees visiting the revered Ram Temple.

The initiative would start on January 26 and continue till March 26, a party spokesperson said on Thursday.
Preparations for the community kitchen, aimed at providing meals for the pilgrims, have been in full swing for the past few days, said the party spokesperson. Following the successful acquisition of permission to start the langar, a truck laden with 18 tonnes of ration was dispatched to Ayodhya. This supply was collected through donation from the public.

Highlighting the collective efforts behind this charitable endeavor, the spokesperson expressed gratitude for the support received from the people, particularly in Una’s Gagret. The spokesperson announced, “With the cooperation of the people, arrangements have been made to send another truck full of ration.” This signifies an ongoing commitment to sustaining the langar’s operations and ensuring ample supply of provisions.

Taking charge of the responsibility for organizsing the langar in Ayodhya is Rajesh Thakur, the Himachal BJP secretary and former MLA of Gagret. His role involves overseeing the logistical aspects of the langar, ensuring a seamless and efficient operation that caters to the needs of the visiting devotees.

Emphasising the local connection to the initiative, the spokesperson stated, “The langar will be cooked and served by the people of Himachal Pradesh.” This move not only extends a warm gesture of hospitality but also underscores the spirit of unity among the people, transcending geographical boundaries for a common cause.

“As the Himachal Pradesh BJP gears up for this philanthropic venture, it reflects a harmonious blend of religious devotion and social service, setting an example of collaborative efforts in fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility,” said Thakur in a statement.
