Dehra: In Nelti village of Dehra, BJP state president Dr Rajeev Bindal addressed a small public gathering at the village pradhan’s residence on Thursday, criticising Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

Bindal claimed Sukhu’s only significant achievement was fielding his wife in the Dehra by-election. He cited Lalu-Rabri era of Bihar during his public gatherings, comparing it with Himachal CM’s wife contesting from here.

“Everyone wants power in this government, whether it is the CM’s friend or wife. He (Sukhu) has appointed more than 34 advisers and granted cabinet rank to his friends in the state government. This government is going to be a set example of Lalu-Rabri of Bihar,” Bindal remarked.

Bindal noted that the Chief Minister lost in his own constituency during the parliamentary elections as BJP candidate Anurag Thakur secured a margin of 2,100 votes over Congress candidate Satpal Raizada.

Seeking support from the public, Bindal accused Sukhu of making excuses. “From the beginning, he has claimed that the government has no money. Additionally, he closed colleges and schools here and also shut down the staff selection commission,” he added.

Dehra is undergoing by-elections with a tough contest between BJP’s Hoshyar Singh and Congress candidate Kamlesh Kumari. Addressing women specifically, Bindal highlighted Congress’ unfulfilled promise of a monthly payment of Rs 1,500 to women. “If they come here for votes, ask them to hand over all the payments for the last 18 months since the Congress came to power,” he urged.
