As the Himachal Pradesh Assembly gears up for its monsoon session from August 27 to September 9, stringent security measures are being put in place to ensure the smooth functioning of the House.
Entry into the Assembly premises will be strictly regulated, with access granted only after verifying QR code-enabled entry passes. A total of 500 police personnel, along with 60 Home Guard personnel, will be deployed to oversee security arrangements during the session.
Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Pathania held a crucial meeting on Monday with senior officials to discuss and finalise the security protocols for the upcoming session. During the meeting, he issued a series of strict instructions to maintain high-level law and order within the premises.

In a move to enhance security, Speaker Pathania announced that entry passes will be issued exclusively online, under the e-Vidhan system. The Vidhan Sabha Secretariat will handle the online printing of these photo-bearing e-entry passes, which will be authenticated through QR codes at computerised checking centres set up at the main gates. A database of every individual entering the premises will be created and monitored from the police control room.
Speaker Pathania emphasised that only the administrative secretary will be allowed to sit in the officer gallery during the question hour, with heads of departments permitted entry afterward. The Assembly Secretariat will strictly enforce these rules, ensuring that no unauthorised person gains access to the premises.
Press reporters will continue to enter through Gates No. 3, 4, 5 and 6, as before, while all officers and employees of the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat will be required to prominently display their identity cards.
In a stern warning, Pathania stated that any government officer, employee, or other pass holder found transferring their government-issued pass to someone else would face legal action.
