Gearing up for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections, the BJP will organise a rally of its youth wing, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Mandi, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi would address it.
The rally was to be earlier organised in Sujanpur but due to a recruitment programme there, the venue has been changed to Mandi. The BJYM is expecting a gathering of about 1 lakh. Though the date for the Prime Minister’s Mandi rally is yet to be finalsed, it is likely to be organised at the beginning of Navratras.
After the Mandi rally, similar events will be held in Sujanpur and Chamba and these too would be addressed by the Prime Minister, said a BJP leader. All the rallies have been discussed at the BJP election management committee meeting that was organised recently in Shimla and again on Tuesday evening.
There are several proposals for programmes of the Prime Minister and Union Ministers, but the dates will be decided only after getting the go-ahead from Delhi. Before the announcement of the Assembly elections, Prime Minister Modi is likely to visit Himachal three times, Union Home Minister Amit Shah four times and Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani five times.
Prime Minister Modi’s rally in Sujanpur was fixed in the presence of former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal at the core group meeting recently. At that time, there was talk of bringing one lakh youth to Sujanpur. Now, after changing the venue, there is a discussion that there is a plan to further strengthen the party in Mandi.
The ruling BJP in Himachal Pradesh appears to be leaving no stone unturned to make its ‘Mission Repeat’ successful, a feat never achieved by any political party in the state in past several decades.
