Himachal Agriculture minister meets Sonia Gandhi in Delhi

During his visit to Delhi, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister, Proo Chandra Kumar, engaged in a courteous meeting with senior Congress leader and former president, Shrimati Sonia Gandhi. The discussion covered various development projects in the state, as well as initiatives undertaken by the minister’s department. Expressing gratitude, the minister acknowledged Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukkhu’s successful one-year term under Sonia Gandhi’s guidance.

Notably, the minister also held discussions with Central Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri Mansukh Mandaviya and Central Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy, and Fisheries, Parshottam Rupala, regarding matters related to public welfare and departmental concerns. The minister updated Sonia Gandhi on 365 decisions taken by the state government in the past year.

Highlighting the commitment to women’s welfare, the minister announced a monthly allowance of Rs 1500 for all women above 18 years in Lahaul-Spiti district from January, extending to all eligible women in the near future. Additionally, plans for covering higher education expenses for widows’ children from the next financial year were disclosed. Emphasizing support for farmers and livestock keepers, the minister revealed the state government’s decision to increase the milk procurement price by Rs 6 and initiate a plan to purchase cow dung from livestock keepers starting January 2024, as part of the electoral promises. Chandra Kumar also shared information about dairy development activities benefiting 47,259 dairy producers across 11 districts in Himachal Pradesh.
