About 30 passengers travelling in a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRRTC) bus had a narrow escape when the vehicle met with an accident in Mandi district’s Dharampur sub-division in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday (April 24, 2024) morning.
According to information, the bus was on its way to Dharampur via the Manudhar-Kamlah-Brahal route when it met with the accident at Manudhar in Mandi district. Both conductor side tyres of the bus went off the road and it miraculously leaned against roadside trees. Had the trees not been there, a major tragedy could have happened, said an HRTC official.
As soon as the bus went off the road, there was panic among the passengers who screamed out of fear. Several schoolchildren were among those travelling on the bus. The schoolchildren and other passengers had to be taken out from the driver’s seat as the bus hung outside the road with its two tyres hanging in the air.
On receiving information, mechanical staff and senior official from HRTC’s Dharampur division reached the spot and conducted an investigation to ascertain the reason behind the mishap. A senior official said it appeared that the bus skidded on muddy track and its two tyres went off the road. He said all passengers were safe and were made to travel in another HRTC bus.
