Dehra: Congress leaders from across the state are converging on Dehra in a concerted effort to secure a win for Kamlesh Thakur, the Congress candidate and wife of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. Sitting Minister Chander Kumar, Tourism Chairman RS Bali, and State Planning Board Chairman Bhawani Pathania are leading the campaign.
In addition, other Congress leaders entrusted with responsibilities include Sanjay Rattan, Sunil Bittu, OSD Gopal Sharma, Viplove Thakur, and Naresh Chauhan.
With by-elections also underway in Hamirpur and Nalagarh, the primary focus remains on Dehra, where the Chief Minister’s wife is running for office.
The campaign for Kamlesh Thakur in Dehra is being managed by close associates of the Chief Minister. Ministers and legislators are making continuous visits to bolster her campaign. As the election date approaches, the campaign is expected to intensify with more high-profile visits. The Chief Minister himself is conducting frequent tours in support of his wife.
Key advisors and Officers on Special Duty (OSDs) are also actively working to ensure Kamlesh Thakur’s victory. A video circulating on social media shows an OSD in conversation with an independent candidate, underscoring the lengths to which the party is going to secure a win.
Efforts to support Kamlesh Thakur are multifaceted, with party workers regularly traveling from Shimla to Dehra. Confidence runs high among Congress leaders that their candidates will emerge victorious in all three assembly constituencies in the state, with Dehra being a particular focus due to the high stakes involved.
Kamlesh Thakur’s candidacy is seen as a proxy for the Chief Minister himself, making the race in Dehra especially significant. In Hamirpur, the Chief Minister’s home district, a by-election is also in progress, where a win is anticipated under the Chief Minister’s influence.
While the final decision rests with the voters, who will cast their ballots on the 10th, Congress leaders are unwavering in their campaign efforts and optimistic about their prospects for victory.
