At Least 261 roads have been closed for vehicular movement due to heavy rains. 160 roads are currently closed in Shimla district, 39 in Mandi, 32 in Sirmour, 7 in Bilaspur, 6 in Hamirpur, 8 in Kullu and 6 in Solan district.
Commuters facing difficulties People have been facing difficulties in commuting from one place to another and transporting fruits and vegetables to mandis due to these closures.During the past 24 hours, 12 houses and 15 cow sheds have been damaged due to rains. PWD property alone worth Rs 684 crores have been destroyed in the rains.
Death toll rises to 434 So far 434 people have lost their lives in rain related accidents. 215 died in road accidents, 54 in landslides, 11 in floods and cloud bursts, 37 due to drowning, 6 in fires, 22 due to snake bites, 10 due to electric shocks, 55 on account of roof collapses and 25 due to other reasons.
