Heavy Rainfall Causes Damage in Various Parts of Himachal

Heavy rainfall has caused significant damage in different parts of the state. Una recorded the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours, while in the plains, strong winds at speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour due to a western disturbance and hailstorms in the upper regions have caused damage to apple crops.

Many areas have faced power outages, adding to people’s difficulties. Due to the rain, 38 transformers have tripped, with the most affected being 25 transformers in Thalot, Kullu, followed by 12 in Gohar, Mandi, and one in Lahaul-Spiti.

The Agriculture and Horticulture Department has sought reports from the field regarding crop damage.

Based on this report, both departments will take further action.

During the past 24 hours, Una received 18.8 millimeters of rain, 17.0 millimeters in Sangla and Kasol, 16.0 millimeters in Rampur, 12.5 millimeters in Bharmaur, 10.5 millimeters in Shimla, 8.6 millimeters in Bhuntar, 8.0 millimeters in BBMB, 7.0 millimeters in Jogindernagar, 6.2 millimeters in Banjar, 5.0 millimeters in Kandaghat and Arki, 3.0 millimeters in Gohar, 2.4 millimeters in Nainadevi, 1.2 millimeters in Sundernagar, and one millimeter each in Mashobra and Manali.

The weather department has forecasted the possibility of rain until May 13. During this time, there is a possibility of strong winds and heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder. The weather department has directed the electricity, PWDD, and Jal Shakti departments to remain active.
