PWD preparedness for monsoon
In preparation for the monsoon, the Public Works Department (PWD) has ramped up efforts, learning from last year’s natural disasters. Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh has instructed the department to ensure complete readiness, including the availability of dozers, JCBs and robots. The PWD has been asked to set up a control room for landslide and disaster-related complaints to receive timely information about road blockages. Road repair and maintenance work is ongoing across Himachal Pradesh.
Engineer-in-Chief of the PWD, Narendra Paul Singh, confirmed that the department is in constant communication with field engineers through online meetings and has been issuing guidelines regularly. The department is fully prepared to handle the monsoon’s impact on infrastructure and ensure minimal disruption.
