Heatwave orange alert issued for Himachal Pradesh, relief expected later this week

The Meteorological Centre-Shimla has issued an orange alert for a heatwave in many parts of Himachal Pradesh for May 27 and 28, with a yellow alert in place for May 29.
According to the department, the heatwave conditions will prevail for the next three days, with many parts of the state expected to receive rain from May 30 to June 2, bringing much-needed relief from the scorching heat.
Districts on heatwave alert
The districts likely to experience heatwave conditions include Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Mandi, Sirmaur, Solan and Una. On Sunday, Una recorded a maximum temperature of 44.4 degrees Celsius, the highest in the state. Other notable temperatures included 42.9 degrees in Bilaspur, 42.8 degrees in Dhaulkuan, 41.2 degrees in Berthin, 42.1 degrees in Hamirpur and 40.2 degrees in Kangra. Meanwhile, the lowest temperature was recorded at 7.6 degrees Celsius in Kukumseri, followed by 8.2 degrees Celsius in Keylong.
On Monday, the weather remains clear in Shimla and other parts of the state. The minimum temperatures recorded were as follows:

Relief for four days likely
The department forecasts rain from May 30 to June 2, which is expected to bring respite from the intense heat. Light rain is also anticipated on the day of voting for the Lok Sabha elections and Assembly by-elections, providing further relief. Residents have been advised to take necessary precautions during the heatwave and stay hydrated.
