DHARAMSHALA: The security personnel deputed at the Gaggal airport in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra appear to be prioritising the comfort and safety of VIPs while showing little regard for the general public.
An incident on October 6 highlights the problem when journalist Parmod Saini was allegedly illtreated by a security officer while he was waiting to receive his daughter, who had just arrived on a SpiceJet flight from Delhi.

The journalist, who had parked his car in the airport premises, was confronted by a security officer. Despite Saini’s humble requests, the officer allegedly began misbehaving, creating a public scene, it is alleged. The officer went as far as to start recording a video of the journalist’s car rather than addressing the situation with professionalism.
The incident raises concerns about the treatment of not only the journalist but common passengers at the airport. Multiple complaints have previously surfaced, accusing the Gaggal airport security personnel of misconduct toward common passengers.
Gaggal airport director Dhirendra Singh confirmed that a formal complaint had been received from Parmod Saini and that he had ordered an investigation into the matter by the police security in-charge at the airport. Saini has also lodged a complaint with Kangra Superintendent of Police Shalini Agnihotri, further emphasising the need for accountability and corrective action.
