Former Punjab minister Sucha Singh Langah’s son arrested with heroin in Shimla; teenage girl from Himachal’s Kinnaur nabbed too

The son of senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Punjab minister Sucha Singh Langah was arrested from Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla on Tuesday after the alleged recovery of drugs from his possession.

According to information, Parkash Singh (37) was arrested by the Himachal Pradesh police along with three other youths and a girl from a hotel near the Old Bus Stand in Shimla on charges of possessing drugs. The police are learnt to have recovered 42 grams of heroin from their possession. The youths belonged to Punjab and Chandigarh while the girl was from Kinnaur in Himachal.

Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid and found Langah’s son Parkash allegedly involved in drug deal. He had previously been arrested in a drugs case by the Punjab police on May 3, 2021. The four others have been identified as Avni Negi (19) from Sangla in Kinnaur, Ajay Kumar (27) from Patiala, Shubham Kaushal (26) from Kansal in Chandigarh and Balbinder (22) from Nayagaon in Mohali. The police said they had been on Parkash’s trail for the past some time as he had been visiting Shimla for drug deals.

Shimla Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Gandhi said all the accused were staying in the hotel near Panchayat Ghar, located next to Old Bus Stand in Shimla. A case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and an investigation is underway.
