Mandi: Former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur delivered a scathing rebuke to Chief Minister Sukhu during the BJP’s nomination rally for Kangana Ranaut in Mandi, suggesting that winds of change were blowing within the Congress government. Thakur’s pointed remarks underscored growing discontent within Congress ranks and hinted at an imminent leadership shuffle.
Thakur didn’t mince words in his assessment of the Sukhu-led administration, labeling it a “flop directorship” that had faltered within a mere 15 months. He cautioned Sukhu about the dissatisfaction brewing among his inner circle, implying that a change in leadership might be on the horizon, possibly even orchestrated by the Congress High Command post-Lok Sabha elections.
The former CM’s critique extended to Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh, questioning his commitment to Mandi’s progress amidst the region’s longstanding challenges. Thakur accused Congress leaders of hindering Mandi’s development by endorsing policies that were detrimental to the region’s interests.
Emphasizing Mandi’s cultural significance, Thakur warned against any actions that might undermine the region’s pride and honor, suggesting that such disrespect could prove electorally costly. He highlighted Congress’s lackluster governance track record, citing instances where developmental projects had been stalled or derailed under their watch.
Thakur positioned the upcoming elections as a pivotal moment for Himachal Pradesh, aligning with the prevailing pro-Modi sentiment across the nation and expressing confidence in BJP’s strong electoral support. He asserted that BJP’s mammoth rally in Mandi had effectively punctured any illusions harbored by Congress leaders about their electoral prospects.
The event culminated in a grand roadshow from Paddal Ground to Seri Stage, drawing throngs of enthusiastic supporters who eagerly embraced Kangana Ranaut’s candidacy. The fervor surrounding the rally hinted at the seismic political shifts underway in Mandi, setting the stage for a fiercely contested electoral battle.
