SHIMLA/KULLU: Following heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh over the past 24 hours, a total of 736 roads, including three national highways, have been disrupted and shut for traffic at several points. As any as 1,743 power distribution transformers have also been affected and 138 water schemes are disrupted. The weather department has issued an alert for moderate to high flashflood risk in the Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Shimla, Sirmaur and Mandi districts.
Deputy Commissioner Ashutosh Garg has said that all educational institutions in the district would remain closed on Monday (July 10, 2023) due to heavy rains. He said that it had been raining continuously in the district since Saturday morning, due to which most of the link roads had been blocked and a red alert had been issued by the Meteorological Department. “In view of the alert, Monday (July 10) will be a holiday in all government and private schools, colleges and ITIs in all educational institutions in the district,” said Garg.
Lahaul Spiti Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar too has also issued an order saying that all educational institutions would remain closed in the district on Monday.
