Father-son duo killed in car accident near Shimla on Lohri evening, 3 others of family injured

SHIMLA: In a tragic accident on the occasion of Lohri, a father-son duo was killed while three others were injured when the car they were travelling in met with an accident on the Shimla-Sunni road near the Himachal Pradesh capital late on Saturday (January 13, 2024) evening.
According to information, all the five car occupants belonged to the same family and were on their way to their native place Karsog in Mandi district when the vehicle with registration number HP30-6983 veered off the road near Baldeyan and fell into a gorge.
Local residents reached the scene upon receiving information about the accident and assisted the police in the rescue operations. The authorities, along with the help of bystanders, rescued the victims from the mangled wreckage.
Ishwar Das succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident while his son Bal Krishan succumbed to his injuries at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) and Hospital in Shimla. It has been reported that Bal Krishan was behind the wheels at the time of the accident. The surviving members of the family include Bal Krishna’s wife Raksha and their son and daughter, who sustained injuries in the collision. Currently, they are receiving treatment at the IGMC. The police have initiated inquest proceedings after registration of a case.
