Election fever grips political parties

Frantic search for potential candidates on

With the by elections to one Lok Sabha seat and three assembly seats in Himachal fast approaching, political activity in the state has reached dizzying levels.

 Both the Congress and the BJP are busy finalizing preparations and the search for the right candidates are moving at a frantic pace.

The election committee of the Congress party has sent a single line proposal to the party high command after discussing the names of possible candidates on Saturday.

Congress high command to decide Congress state president Kuldeep Singh Rathore said that the party high command will take a final decision on who should be given tickets for Jubbal-Kotkhai, Mandi and Arki assembly seats, apart from Mandi parliamentary constituency.

If sources are to be believed, Pratibha Singh, wife of six-time Chief Minister late Virbhadra Singh will contest from Mandi parliamentary constituency.

Rohit Thakur, former CPS could contest from Jubbal Kotkhai, Bhavani Singh, son of former MLA Sujan Singh Pathania from Fatehpur and either Rajendra Thakur or Sanjay Awasthi could be given a ticket to contest from Arki.

BJP to decide on Sunday The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party will decide the names of candidates for the four seats at the election commission meeting to be held in Dharamshala on Sunday.

The party’s state in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna, co in-charge, state president, representatives of the election commission and senior party leaders will participate in the meeting.

The names of potential candidates will be sent to the party high command after a decision is arrived at during the election committee meet.
