Amid the model code of conduct applicable for the Lok Sabha elections and the bypolls to six Assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh, the Election Commission has received 34 complaints on the C-Vigil app, of which 22 have been deemed fake.
The 12 genuine complaints have drawn attention to various violations, with the highest number originating from Mandi district (6), followed by Bilaspur (3), Kangra (2) and Una district (1). Most grievances revolve around the failure to remove government posters and banners during the code of conduct period, as well as the non-transfer of officers and employees after three years of tenure.

The Election Commission has implemented a strict timeline, allotting 100 minutes to address complaints submitted via the C-Vigil app. In Himachal Pradesh, an impressive feat was achieved as 12 genuine complaints of the 34 received were resolved within a record 26 minutes.

Himachal Chief Electoral Officer Maneesh Garg emphasised the prompt response to the complaints. To ensure compliance with the code of conduct, 205 flying squads had been deployed across the state, swiftly addressing reported violations, he said.
The elections to the four Lok Sabha constituencies and byelections to the six Assembly seats are scheduled in the last phase of the seven-phase elections being held across the country on June 1. The counting of votes will take place on June 4. The byelections have been necessitated following the disqualification of six Congress MLAs from the Assembly for violation of a whip issued by the party for voting during the budget session.
