EC revises Himachal Lok Sabha poll turnout to 71%, read constituency-wise details
DHARAMSHALA: The Election Commission has revised the voting percentage in the Lok Sabha elections in Himachal Pradesh for four seats to 71%. According to figures released by the State Election Commission for the four parliamentary constituencies, Mandi lead with 73% turnout, closely followed by Hamirpur and Shimla with 72% and 71%, respectively. Kangra recorded the lowest voter turnout at 68%.
Nachan highest in Mandi
Under the Mandi parliamentary constituency, the voter turnout was as follows: Ani 73%, Balh 75%, Banjar 70%, Bharmour 62%, Drang 74%, Jogindernagar 68%, Karsog 72%, Kinnaur 70%, Kullu 71%, Lahaul-Spiti 75%, Manali 72%, Mandi 75%, Nachan 77%, Rampur 74%, Sarkaghat 67%, Seraj 75%, and Sundernagar 76%.
Kutlehar leads in Hamirpur
In Hamirpur parliamentary constituency, the voter turnout stood at: Barsar 70%, Bhoranj 69%, Bilaspur-Chintpurni 71%, Dehra-Dharampur 63%, Gagret 73%, Ghumarwin 72%, Hamirpur 68%, Haroli 70%, Jaswan-Paragpur 68%, Jhanduta 72%, Kutlehar 76%, Naidun 72%, Shri Naina Devi Ji 73%, Sujanpur 74% and Una 74%.
Nahan ahead in Shimla
Similarly, in the Shimla parliamentary constituency, the voting percentages were: Arki 68%, Chopal 67%, Doon 74%, Jubbal-Kotkhai 75%, Kasauli 75%, Kasumpti 61%, Nahan 78%, Nalagarh 71%, Pachhad 72%, Paonta Sahib 74%, Rohru 74%, Shillai 71%, Shimla 63%, Shimla Rural 65%, Solan 69%, Shri Renukaji 69% and Theog 66%.
Nagrota surpasses others in Kangra
For the Kangra parliamentary constituency, the voter turnout was distributed as follows: Baijnath 62%, Bhatiyat 65%, Chamba 67%, Churah 70%, Dalhousie 66%, Dharamshala 70%, Fatehpur 67%, Indora 69%, Jaisinghpur 62%, Jawalamukhi 69%, Jawali 65%, Kangra 70%, Nagrota 71%, Nurpur 67%, Palampur 69%, Shahpur 68, and Sulh 67%.
In the Assembly by-elections, significant voter participation was observed, with Kutlehar Assembly constituency recording 76%, Lahaul-Spiti 75%, Gagret 73%, Sujanpur 74%, Dharamshala 70%, nd Barsar approximately 69%.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed optimism about the Congress’ performance, stating that the party was ahead on two Lok Sabha seats and competitively positioned on two others. Additionally, he noted the Congress candidates’ success in six Assembly byelection seats.
Reflecting on exit polls, Sukhu emphasised the importance of ground realities over poll predictions, citing past discrepancies. He highlighted the enthusiasm witnessed during rallies led by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in the state. CM Sukhu also engaged with party workers, discussing the election dynamics and expressing confidence in Congress’s prospects in the results that will be announced on June 4.
