Drug Alert: 20 Medicines, Including Heart and BP Drugs, Made in Himachal Fail Quality Standards
In a concerning development, samples of 20 medicines manufactured in Himachal Pradesh have failed quality standards, leading to a drug alert issued by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO). The failed samples include medicines for heart and blood pressure management, raising alarm among the state’s residents.
The CDSCO had collected samples of 931 medicines from across the country in March, out of which 66 samples were found to be substandard. Among these, 20 medicines were manufactured in different industries across Himachal Pradesh.
The failed medicines include Astriparin injection by Astrica Health Care in Baddi, Foxygen-200 and 550 by Legan Healthcare in Parwanoo, Pardic-SP tablet by JMM Laboratory in Sirmaur, Opisoprot-200 by Torque Pharmaceutical in Jharmajri, Mentor LC tablet by Sigma Softgels & Formulations in Baddi, and Tel Verge H medicine by Biolatus Pharmaceutical in Baddi, among others.
This incident underscores the importance of stringent quality control measures in the pharmaceutical industry to ensure the safety and efficacy of medicines.
