SHIMLA: With the budget session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly scheduled from February 14 to 29, the Shimla police claim to have prepared a foolproof security plan and would be deploying 500 personnel near the Vidhan Sabha and other points in the town.
The police authorities have intensified vigilance at key entry points into the capital city, including the Shoghi barrier, Tutu chowk, Mashobra bifurcation, Mehli-Junga bypass, Sainj Khud, Kupvi-Chopal barrier, Kuddu and Jamradi Check Post. People entering Shimla from surrounding areas will also be subjected to heightened scrutiny to monitor any suspicious activities.
A comprehensive traffic management plan has been devised for the budget session from February 14 to 29. Shimla city will be divided into five sectors to streamline traffic flow and ensure efficient security coverage. The sectors are Tutu to Kennedy House, Shoghi to railway station, railway station to Kumar House, Secretariat via Railway Station to Old Bus Stand and Victory Tunnel via Lakkar Bazar till Dhalli.
Each sector will witness a significant police presence, with armed personnel stationed strategically along routes leading to the Assembly complex. Stringent measures have been put in place to monitor activities within the city, including the utilisation of drones and a dedicated CCTV control room at the office of the Superintendent of Police. Real-time traffic monitoring and coordination of traffic personnel will be facilitated through the control room, enabling swift responses to any disruptions or security concerns.
Police station and outpost heads have been tasked with intensifying patrols and inspections at bus stands, railway stations, markets, hotels, gurdwaras, dharamshalas and guest houses. Citizens are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious objects or activities immediately to the authorities.
