Did Shiv Sena leader’s son pay Rs 18,000 bar bill before ‘fatally hitting’ woman with his BMW?

The Mumbai police have issued a look out circular (LOC) for Mihir Shah, a 24-year-old youth allegedly involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident in the Worli area, an official announced on Monday. Shah, who was reportedly driving a BMW, is the son of Rajesh Shah, a Shiv Sena leader from the neighboring Palghar district.

The incident occurred around 5.30 am on Sunday when Kaveri Nakhwa (45), a resident of Worli Koliwada, and her husband Pradeep were struck by the luxury car on Dr Annie Besant Road. According the to police, the vehicle, driven by Mihir Shah, collided with the couple’s two-wheeler, dragging Nakhwa for more than 2 km. She was rushed to a hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.

Following the accident, Mihir Shah fled towards the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. He abandoned the car and his driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, near Kala Nagar in Bandra, the official reported. Rajesh Shah and Bidawat were later arrested by Worli police on Sunday for allegedly aiding Mihir’s escape.

“Given the possibility of Mihir Shah fleeing the country, the Mumbai police issued an LOC against him on Sunday evening,” the official said. Six teams have been formed to locate the accused.

The police suspect that Mihir was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident as he was seen at a bar in Juhu a few hours earlier.

A bar bill for Rs 18,000 has been found and is being verified. CCTV footage from the bar is also being examined.

The arrested individuals will be presented before a local court later on Monday. The accused have been charged under various sections, including Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
