Dharamshala: The Master Mitrasen Thapa Literary and Music Society of Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, is set to unveil the statue of Nepali literary figure and military officer, Captain Bahadur Singh Baral, on Saturday, April 27, at Dari Gorkha Bhavan. The unveiling ceremony will be conducted by his granddaughter, Dr Sangita Vastre, and chief guest, former MP of Sikkim, Dil Kumari Bhandari.
Sadhan Nepal, the president of the Master Thapa Society, stated during a press conference in Dharamshala that Master Mitrasen and Bahadur Singh Baral fought together in the World War I in 1914. He mentioned their inability to present a cultural program during an event in France, which later became their inspiration. He highlighted Baral’s contributions to bhajans and literature in India until 1939. Baral had established a statue of Gorakhnath in Dari, and his significance has been acknowledged in Gorakhpur city of Uttar Pradesh as well. Former CM Nar Bahadur Bhandari has also been specially invited to the event. Hemant Gurung, the coordinator of the society, informed that a Nepali dance performance will be presented on April 28 by a Nepali group, paying tribute to Dal Bahadur Thapa, Durgamall, and Master Mitrasen on this occasion.
