Dharamshala/Shimla : Amid the controversy involving Himachal Pradesh DGP Sanjay Kundu and businessman Nishant Sharma from Palampur, the police has finally started investigating the case of threats made to Nishant Sharma in Bhagsu Nag last month. Superintendent of Police Shalini Agnihotri at Kangra has confirmed it to this correspondent.
The police have taken possession of footage from approximately eight CCTV cameras in the Bhagsu Nag and McLeod Ganj regions to identify unknown culprits.
Businessman had claimed that he was allegedly threatened in Dharamshala’s Bhagsu Nag on October 27 last month. He had said that this incident occurred within about one and a half hours of a conversation with the DGP.
The businessman had refused to meet the DGP in Shimla, citing his father’s poor health as the reason for his inability to travel at that time. The conversation between the two took place through the police headquarters’ landline number.
On the other hand, an FIR has been registered in Shimla, based on which an investigation has been initiated by DGP Sanjay Kundu. Reverse investigation is also a possibility in this FIR, meaning that not only the DGP but also the allegations made by businessman Nishant Sharma could be examined in this case.
Furthermore, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena summoned ADGP Law and Order Abhishek Trivedi to his office on Thursday to gather information about this case. The state government is actively monitoring every update related to the entire case.
