Dharamshala: A meeting was convened on Tuesday by the Congress regarding the Lok Sabha elections in Kangra and Chamba. Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister in the state Congress government, Professor Chaudhary Chandra Kumar, addressed the press to criticise the Central government over its policies.
Critiquing the electoral bond issue, Kumar accused the central government of soliciting funds from various companies without disclosing the list to the public, which he deemed a direct blow to democracy. He lamented the lack of serious coverage on this matter by the national media, attributing it to pressure from the ruling BJP government at the center.
Kumar denounced the six defecting MLAs, branding them as opportunists who have abandoned their principles for personal interests by joining the BJP. He specifically targeted Dharamshala MLA Sudhir Sharma, whose father, Pandit Sukhram Sharma, devoted his life to nurturing the Congress party. Kumar expressed disbelief at the betrayal by these MLAs, who have chosen to switch sides for their own gains.
Kumar stated that the party will soon announce its candidates, who may hail from within the state or outside its borders.
