DC Ensures Voting Rights for Employees on Election Duty

Dharamshala, March 30 – In view of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, all employees deployed on election duty, including police, home guards, soldiers, and HRCTC employees engaged in election duty, will be provided the facility of postal ballots and Electronic Data capture (EDC) for voting, ensuring that no voter is deprived of their voting rights. Convenience centers will also be set up in the offices of relevant Assistant Electoral Officers for this purpose.
District Election Officer DC Hemraj Bairwa stated that directions have been given to police administration, HRCTC management, and home guard officials regarding the distribution of postal ballots and ensuring voting through EDC for all employees assigned to election duty related to their departments.
He mentioned that Voter Helpline app can be used to obtain necessary information related to voter ID cards, and information can also be obtained by dialing toll-free number 1950.
The Deputy Commissioner mentioned the initiation of a sweep program to increase voter turnout, organizing awareness programs at various levels to educate people about voting. He also highlighted the arrangements made by the election department to facilitate the access of differently-abled individuals to polling booths, following the department’s guidelines.
