Days after cloudburst tragedy, earthquake shakes Himachal’s Mandi

Following the recent devastating cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh, the region has now been shaken by an earthquake. Tremors were felt in Mandi, with a magnitude of 3.3 on the Richter scale. The earthquake’s epicentre was located at a depth of 5 km beneath the earth’s surface. Fortunately, there have been no reports of any casualties or damage to property.
Prior to the earthquake, Himachal Pradesh had already suffered extensive damage due to heavy rainfall in several districts. The cloudburst-triggered floods have claimed 22 lives while 30 persons remain missing.
The region is already gripped with fear due to the severe weather conditions, and the recent earthquake tremors have only added to the anxiety among the residents.
In a related incident, an earthquake also shook Soreng in Sikkim, registering a magnitude of 4.4 on the Richter scale. The tremors caused people to rush out of their homes in panic. Fortunately, no casualties or property damage have been reported from Sikkim either.
