Dharamshala: “Central University in Dharamshala is my dream project, and I am committed to fighting for it at every level” said BJP leader Sudhir Sharma in a press statement issued on Tuesday that he will raise the issue of establishing a Central University of Himachal (CUHP) in Jadrangal with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
He addressed representatives of CUHP struggle committee and local residents on Tuesday. It was said that the struggle committee had approached Sharma to expedite the construction of CUHP in Dharamshala.
Sudhir said that CM Sukhu had promised multiple times to secure the 30 crore rupees required for the university. However, since then, there has been no mention of the Central University from the CM, he added.
Sharma expressed his understanding of the frustration felt by the residents of Jadangala and Kand Kardiyana, who have donated approximately 600 kanals of land for the university. He pledged to arrange a meeting between the struggle committee and the Governor soon to submit a memorandum.
Sharma challenged Congress leaders and the Chief Minister to clarify their stance on the Central University issue to the public. He questioned whether the Congress government even has the budget to allocate the necessary 30 crore rupees for the university.
Earlier on Tuesday, the struggle committee officials met with Sharma, urging him to accelerate the construction of the Central University in Jadrangal.
Sharma accused the Congress government of halting development in Dharamshala out of spite following their electoral defeat. He claimed that the intentional delays have affected various sectors, including agriculture, horticulture, soil conservation, water power, PWD, and electricity board services. Sharma warned that the people of Dharamshala and the BJP are prepared to take strong actions if the Congress government continues to neglect their needs.
