The CPI(M) staged a dharna and protested at the gate of the IGMC, over the issue of outsourcing of the ‘langar’, which had been stopped recently.
The party expressed displeasure over the IGMC’s policy of handing over all work related to the hospital to private individuals. This they said, even included tests done in the hospital to canteens inside the IGMC.
The CPI(M) demanded the restoration of the langar as well as free tests inside the hospital.Â
IGMC should not privatise
CPI(M) secretary Babu Lal said that the IGMC administration should run the canteens themselves.
He claimed that vested interests within the hospital administration had led to privatisation for the benefit of a chosen few.
It was ironic, he said, that only a few days back those people who had declared the langar as illegal, were themselves seen distributing at the langars.
State Committee member Vijender Mehra, District committee member Sonu Verma, Satyawan Pundir, Jagmohan Thakur, Balak Ram, Mahesh Verma, Zia Nand, Vivek Kashyap, Pankaj Verma, Raman Chandrakant Verma, Sohan Thakur, Suresh Verma, Himi Devi, Balkrishna Bali, etc were present.
