Last day of filing nominations witnesses huge crowds in 4 constituencies

The last day of filing nomination papers saw all Covid guidelines set by the Election Commission of India (ECI) being openly flouted.
This was seen in all four constituencies of the state on Friday, where by elections are being held.
Huge crowds accompanied candidates While filing nomination papers, there were huge crowds backing their party candidates and public meetings of the BJP and the Congress witnessed an absolute lack of Covid protocol as people neither wore masks nor maintained social distancing.
To top it all, there were innumerable people participating, a clear violation of the ECI norms according to which 1000 people could participate in public meetings of star campaigners and 500 in rallies of other leaders.
It had also laid down that social distancing would have to be maintained during these rallies. Huge crowds were seen in Mandi, Jubbal Kotkhai and Fatehpur. The Union Health Ministry has already warned Himachal of the consequential spike in Covid cases if norms are not followed.
