The administration of Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) in Shimla is facing allegations of mistreatment and neglect by its outsourced security personnel. IGMC Security Union President, Babloo, accuses both the hospital administration and the security company of withholding wages from security personnel on medical leave due to injuries sustained on duty.During a recent crisis, government directives specified that employees should be accommodated according to their health conditions. However, two injured security personnel are still on bed rest, with their wages withheld despite medical certificates.
Babloo also alleges mistreatment by certain hospital officials since they took on their roles. Delays in salary payments and harassment have reportedly become commonplace, with officials unwilling to address these concerns.Employees further claim that IGMC administration manipulated the list of COVID-19 era staff, favoring certain employees and removing names to protect them from potential layoffs.
These allegations cast a shadow over IGMC Hospital’s transparency and fairness. The need for accountability and equitable treatment of all employees, especially those risking their health to serve the community, is evident.Authorities have yet to respond, leaving both security personnel and the public waiting for a thorough investigation into these troubling claims.
