Congress Lok Sabha candidates from Himachal seek Radha Soami Satsang chief’s blessings in Palampur

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Congress candidates for Kangra, Mandi and Shimla Lok Sabha constituencies Anand Sharma, Vikramaditya Singh and Vinod Sultanpuri called on Radha Soami Satsang chief Gurinder Singh on Sunday (May 5, 2024) to seek his blessings.
The meeting took place at Radha Soami Satsang complex in Paraur in Palampur area of Kangra. Radha Soami Satsang chief Gurinder Singh was in Paraur to address a gathering of the dera followers.
The meeting assumes significance in view of the June 1 Lok Sabha elections as Radha Soami Satsang has a massive following across Himachal Pradesh. The satsang has its zonal offices in Paraur and Solan in Himachal Pradesh.
Paraur is in Kangra, the seat from where former Union Minister Anand Sharma is contesting his first Lok Sabha election. The 71-year-old has a close relationship with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Anand Sharma is considered to have played an important role in taking Sukhu forward in the state politics.
Playing a big gamble, the Congress has declared the former Union Minister as the party candidate from the Kangra seat.
Born on January 5, 1953, in Shimla, Anand Sharma studied at RPCAADB College (now RKMV) in Shimla and Himachal Pradesh University.
A founding member of NSUI, Anand Sharma was a Minister of State for External Affairs from 2006 to 2009, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry and Textiles from 2009 to 2014 and Deputy Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha from June 8, 2014, to 2022.
