Congress Govt’s Initiatives Are Half-Baked Plans Lacking Execution: Bikram Thakur
Una: Former Industries Minister and BJP MLA from Jaswan-Paragpur in Kangra district, Bikram Thakur, criticized the Congress government on Thursday, describing its initiatives as “half-baked plans lacking execution.” Speaking with a correspondent, Thakur highlighted several of the government’s recent announcements, pointing out what he claims to be an absence of effective follow-through.
Referring to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s recent statements about a “green bonus,” Thakur questioned the progress on this and other promised initiatives.
“In his budget speech, the Chief Minister spoke about creating green corridors, but has anyone seen progress or received updates on their development?” he asked, suggesting that the public has been kept in the dark about tangible advancements.
Thakur also took aim at the government’s frequent announcements of new projects, alleging that none have seen meaningful execution. “Only yesterday, social media was flooded with photos of CM Sukhu riding boats in Bilaspur as part of a new project. Yet, even this is now under scrutiny by the high court amid corruption allegations,” he remarked.

The MLA emphasized that construction alone is not enough for holistic state development, adding that there’s an apparent mismanagement of public funds. Thakur, whose constituency borders Dehra, represented by the Chief Minister’s wife, questioned the effectiveness of the government’s approach, suggesting that real progress requires more than simply building structures with taxpayer money.
“Announcements alone don’t create change,” Thakur stated, urging the Congress government to prioritize execution over empty promises.
