Cold Wave Grips Himachal Pradesh, Several Roads Closed, Power Supply Affected

Dharamshala:Several districts of Himachal Pradesh are reeling under a cold wave after recent snowfall and rainfall. Minimum temperatures are dipping below freezing at eight places in the state, with six locations recording sub-zero temperatures. Kukumseri in Lahaul-Spiti district has set a new record this season with a minimum temperature of minus 14.2 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Center in Shimla, the weather is expected to remain clear in all parts of the state until February 14th. Some relief from the cold is anticipated due to a slight increase in temperatures during this period. However, today Shimla and other areas witnessed clear weather. Una, Kangra, Dharamshala, and Barthin experienced the effects of the cold wave. Yellow alerts for cold wave conditions are still in place in many parts of the state.

254 roads still closed
As of Thursday morning, three national highways and 254 roads remained closed for traffic in the state. Additionally, due to the halt of 80 electricity transformers, power supply is disrupted in several areas. Twenty-two drinking water supply schemes are also affected. Despite recent snowfall, 26 roads in Shimla district, 125 in Lahaul-Spiti, 24 in Mandi, 41 in Kullu, and 37 in Chamba are still closed.
