CM’s wife a proxy leader, will disappear from Dehra after elections, says BJP’s Bikram Thakur

Dehra: Senior BJP leader and former Industry Minister Bikram Thakur reignited his war of words with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who has fielded his wife Kamlesh in Dehra.

During his public address in Dehra on Thursday, Bikram dismissed Kamlesh’s leadership credentials, claiming she was merely the CM’s wife and would disappear after the elections.

“They (CM and his wife) don’t live in Dehra, nor in Nadaun. So you are not going to find them after elections. This is just a gimmick to acquire power that the CM has fielded his wife from Dehra,” said Thakur.

Appealing for votes, Thakur promised that if Dehra’s residents supported BJP, they would effectively have two MLAs — one from Dehra and Thakur himself, who represents the adjoining constituency.

Accusing the Chief Minister of power misuse, Thakur recounted an incident where a village pradhan who refused to support the Congress had her husband transferred to Sirmaur.

Endorsing BJP candidate Hoshyar Singh, Thakur praised the former’s ability to address issues both inside and outside the Vidhan Sabha. “The CM’s wife is being projected as a leader, but she is not a leader. The only qualification she has is that her husband is the Chief Minister of the state,” he added.
