Dharamshala: Despite the heavy losses incurred by the state due to severe natural disasters last year, the budget presented by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu demonstrates his forward-thinking approach, according to Puneet Malhi, secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee and media coordinator.
Malli praised the Chief Minister for considering every section of society in the budget, including youth, women, farmers, and gardeners. The CM has set the minimum support price (MSP) for milk from cows and buffaloes, providing relief to the people.
Monthly diet money for police personnel responsible for maintaining the state’s security has been increased by five times. The wages for MGNREGA workers have been raised from Rs 240 to Rs 300, and those who complete 100 days of work, including disabled individuals, will receive a grant of Rs 3 lakh for building houses.
Malli highlighted initiatives like establishing a cancer institute at the Hamirpur Medical College, indicating the Chief Minister’s forward-thinking vision. Increases in salaries for municipal mayors, deputy mayors, councilors, and urban local body officials have also been announced.
The state government will now purchase wheat at Rs 40 and maize at Rs 30 per kg to assist farmers. Additionally, Rs 10 crore will be allocated to help farmers install wire mesh and barbed wire fencing to protect crops from wild animals.
The budget also mentions various projects and schemes under the forward-thinking approach, aiming for the overall development and progress of Himachal Pradesh.
