Dharamshala/Shimla/Delhi: Three Chief Ministers, Karnataka ‘s Siddaramaiah, Telangana’s Revantha Reddy, and Himachal’s Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu will not participate in the NITI Aayog meeting scheduled for July 27, which will be chaired by the Prime Minister. This move is intended to protest against the central government’s budget, which has been termed discriminatory.
In a healthy democracy, a country needs a strong opposition and an unbiased media. However, despite employing a significant number of advisors in Himachal Pradesh and Delhi, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu’s absence from national media reports on this boycott is notable.
Himachal Pradesh is facing severe financial difficulties, and the demands of this hill state should be prominently highlighted. Unfortunately, the media advisors of the Chief Minister have failed to bring attention to this protest by the Himachal government at the national level.
National media reports have covered the statements of the Chief Ministers from Karnataka and Telangana, but there was no mention of Himachal Pradesh. If this hill state fails to represent its issues at this critical juncture, the coming days could be financially challenging.
Meanwhile, the state leadership of the BJP has begun criticizing Chief Minister Sukhu’s move, and their press statements have been widely published. BJP party president Rajeev Bindal and Leader of opposition Jairam Thakur can be seen or read at various platforms contradicting the move of Himachal CM Sukhu.
