Classical dancers Rahul Gupta and Nandini Gupta captivated young rural children with their inspirational Bharatanatyam dance workshop held at Shraddha Suman in Dhanotu village of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh.
The workshop, which took place on Monday evening, was part of Nivriti’s ongoing efforts to promote India’s traditional art forms and culture among the youth. Nivriti, an organisation dedicated to holistic education and health, aims to nurture a deep appreciation for classical arts in the younger generation.
Rahul Gupta’s disciple Tejaswini will continue the legacy by teaching Bharatanatyam to village girls every Sunday at Shraddha Suman. The workshop aimed to excite and engage children in the learning of classical dance, providing them with a meaningful alternative to spending excessive time on mobile devices.
Rahul Gupta, a professional dancer and instructor, inspired young girls to embrace meaningful art forms. With 14 years of experience in teaching Bharatanatyam and a variety of Western and Indian dance forms, Rahul runs the Nritya Kalalayam academy. His performances have garnered critical acclaim across Australia, London, Qatar, Armenia, Dubai, Doha and many other countries.
Among Rahul’s prestigious performances are those at the ‘Taj Mahotsav’ at the Taj Mahal, at the Red Fort on Independence Day and at the ‘Salam-e-Nusrat Night’ in Delhi. His exceptional talent was recognised when he received the first prize from then Chief Minister Sheila Dixit.
The workshop not only provided a platform for children to learn Bharatanatyam but also aimed to instill a passion for India’s rich cultural heritage. Rahul and Nandini Gupta’s dedication to promoting traditional art forms continues to inspire the next generation, ensuring that these cultural treasures are preserved and cherished.
