The Chandigarh-Manali National Highway has been closed after a large portion of a hill caved in.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon near Sandi Mor in Ot town of Mandi district, resulting in a huge amount of rubble blocking the road.
There was a traffic snarl in the area with vehicles blocking both sides of the National Highway. Due to continuous landslides in the hills of Ot, the road remained closed till late evening.
Man-made disaster
This has become a frequent scene in Ot where a private company has undertaken work to construct a four-lane road between the hills.
As a result of hill cutting, very often there is a shower of rubble on the road, making travel between Ot and Mandi difficult and cumbersome.
