Schools in Himachal will reopen for secondary and senior secondary students conditionally from Monday, September 27. This decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jairam Thakur at the state secretariat.
It has been decided that students of grade 10 and 12 will have to attend school on the first three days of the week, while regular classes for students of grades 9 and 11 will be held on the remaining three days. Classes will be held in two shifts, beginning the festival of ‘Navami.’
Decision on transfers
The Cabinet also took decisions on transfers of teachers and decided that JBT and C&V teachers will now have to wait for a period of 5 years only to get transferred to their home districts.
The tenure of the contract will also be counted in these five year periods. Earlier teachers could get transferred to their home districts only after completing 13 years of service. Thousands of teachers of the JBT abd C&V will be benefitted by this decision.
Approval for recruitment of 8000 multi task workers
The Cabinet also approved the recruitment of 8000 multi task workers in the education department.
As per this decision, 4000 posts will be filled on the recommendation of the Chief Minister and the remaining 4000 posts will be filled on the basis of applications through committees headed by the SDM. The workers will get a salary of Rs 5,625 per month.
Recruitment procedure of multi-task workers
Advertisements will be placed on the notice boards of schools and panchayats before appointments are made. Candidates will have to apply on plain paper to the block elementary education officer.
Jobs entailed will be opening and closing of schools, cleaning of premises and classrooms, arranging for drinking water and transportation of school mail to other departments. A request will be sent to the BEO on behalf of the local school for all recruitments.
The BEO will then send this request to the directorate. Advertisements for recruitment will be issued after approval from the directorate.
