India’s biggest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has said that it will “take appropriate actions under law” against Competition Commission of India’s (CCI) ₹200-crore fine. Earlier, CCI said that MSIL restrained its dealers from offering discounts to customers beyond those prescribed by the MSIL.

FDI into the country rose to $12.1 billion in May: Union Minister Piyush Goyal

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that foreign direct investment into the country rose to $12.1 billion in May. “India received the highest ever FDI inflow in 2020-21. It surged 10% to $81.72 billion. The government is working on a mission mode to achieve exports target of $400 billion in 2021-22, Goyal said.

Govt’s FY22 asset monetisation target stands at ₹88,000 crore: NITI Aayog CEO

NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said that the government’s asset monetisation target for 2021-22 under the National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) stands at ₹88,000 crore. Each ministry has been given an annual target and this will be monitored through a dashboard. The government will monetise assets worth ₹6,00,000 crore between 2021-22 and 2024-25 under NMP.

Finance Ministry expresses ‘deep disappointment’, asks Infosys to fix tax portal by Sept 15

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met Infosys CEO Salil Parekh on Monday to convey the “deep disappointment” over the glitches in the new e-filing income tax portal. Sitharaman demanded that the issues must be fixed by September 15, 2021. Parekh told Sitharaman that over 750 team members are working on the project and COO Pravin Rao is personally overseeing the project.

Visa buys Crypto-Punk for $150,000, marks first ever NFT purchase

Digital payments giant Visa has purchased a digital Crypto-Punk for 49.5 Ether worth $150,000, marking the company’s first-ever NFT purchase. Visa bought Crypto-Punk 7610, which features a female punk with a mohawk and large green eyes.

Taj Hotels-owner IHCL to raise ₹3,000 crore via rights issue

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), the parent of Taj Hotels, has said that its board of directors considered and approved a proposal to raise ₹3,000 crore through rights issue. The issue will meet the company’s financing needs for capital expenditure, growth plans and debt repayment.
