Shimla: A private bus returning after ferrying passengers for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Nahan on Friday (May 24, 2024) met with an accident in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh late last night.
According to information, the accident occurred in Chopal area of Shimla district. The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Kapil, son of Lok Bahadur, a resident of Thanog at Rajgarh in Sirmaur. The police have registered a case and commenced further investigation into the incident.
The bus was carrying only the driver, Kapil, and the conductor, Mahesh Kumar, at the time of the accident. Kapil succumbed to his injuries while Mahesh is undergoing treatment at Solan hospital.
The private bus, bearing registration number HP64C-8197, had earlier transported people from the Chopal area to the rally held by Prime Minister Modi in Nahan. After the rally, the bus safely returned the passengers to their homes in the afternoon. Subsequently, the bus driver and conductor were returning to their own homes when the bus went out of control at Dhartukhadi in Pulvahal and plunged into a 100-foot-deep ditch. This accident occurred on the boundary of Shimla and Sirmaur districts. In the wake of the accident, the Chopal administration has provided immediate relief of Rs 25,000 to the family of the deceased.
