About 35 per cent polling was recorded till 1 pm in the Punjab Assembly poll on Sunday, according to the Election Commission.
Barring a clash between Shiromani Akali Dal and Congress supporters in Patiala, the polling was largely peaceful. One person was injured in the clash, which was reported at Babu Singh Colony in Patiala, the home town of former Chief Minister and Punjab Lok Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh.
In Moga, the Election Commission seized Bollywood actor Sonu Sood’s car following a complaint by candidates contesting again his sister Malvika Sood, who is fighting her first poll on the Congress ticket.
Sources said Sonu Sood was visiting villages when the Election Commission acted against him. The complainants appealed to the poll panel that people may get influenced by looking at the celebrity and, thus, get inclined in favour of the Congress candidate.
