Mandi:The body of the tempo traveler driver, who was missing after he fell into the Beas river following a road rage incident involving a tourist, Amandeep Singh, from Jalandhar over overtaking in Mandi, has been recovered after four days of search.
The deceased has been identified as Gangaram (48), a resident of Pangana village in the Karsog Sun division of the Mandi district area.
Gangaram, along with Amandeep Singh, had fallen into the Beas river on January 1 around 9 pm following a fight between them on the issue of overtaking.
Amandeep was headed to Jalandhar in his Fortuner with his wife and son after celebrating New Year in Manali when a fight ensued between him and Gangaram, who was on his way to drop tourists from Manali to Chandigarh.
Passersby who gathered at the spot, in Bindrabani, about 3 km from Mandi town, had alerted the police and the local administration as they saw both vehicles falling into the Beas river. Police, SDRF, and local administration teams arrived at the scene and initiated a search for both. Later local divers from Sundernagar were also called to expedite the search operation.
The search for the duo had been going on since Sunday evening. Amandeep’s body was found by a team of local divers two days back.
