DHARAMSHALA: The opposition BJP in Himachal Pradesh is holding a ‘Jan Aakrosh Rally’ in Dharamshala on Monday (December 18, 2023) to protest the ruling Congress government’s alleged failures on the governance front and its inability to fulfil pre-poll guarantees.
Talking to The Newz Radar at the Police Ground in Dharamshala, which is the venue of the protest rally, Himachal Pradesh BJP president Dr Rajeev Bindal said the Congress government had failed to fulfil its promises, which Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu would be done in the first cabinet meeting itself.
The rally is scheduled to start at 12 noon and party workers from all over the state are expected to participate in it. On December 11, the Congress had organised a rally at the same venue to mark the completion of its one year in power in Himachal.
“As many as 22 lakh women have been waiting for the promised Rs 1,500 per month grant, 24 lakh power consumers are awaiting 300 units of free power, farmers want cow dung to be procured while youth are eagerly awaiting 5 lakh jobs in a year. All these are primary promises that the Sukhu government must fulfil, as promised by it before Assembly elections,” said Bindal.
The BJP state president said that they would continue gheraoing the Congress regime till it was ousted in Himachal Pradesh as nobody should be allowed to rule on the basis of “false promises”.
About the party’s strategy for the winter session of the Vidhan Sabha that is scheduled to commence in Dharamshala on December 19, Bindal said the BJP MLAs would sit together and formulate a plan to “expose” the ruling regime’s “failures” inside the Assembly. The winter session will conclude on December 23.
